Hello mr Vávra,

I am a part of team called PortMaster, which aims to to bring modern games to Linux handhelds.

Shards of God runs pretty very well and looks just great. I would like to ask if you would consider allowing us to include the game on our PortMaster website? If not I will just direct people here to grab the game.

Thanks for your time!

https://portmaster.games

No problem at all, it’s a free game, happy it reaches more people. I’d just ask you to also make people aware they can pay for the game voluntarily if they like it, and direct them to this site.

Anyway, I think I already saw the game port on this website several days ago? Here: https://portmaster.games/detail.html?name=shardsofgod. Is this Plint’s strategy of asking for permission after you do it, or am I missing something? :)

Right now game files are NOT provided, it is basically just an AGS binary with preconfigured controls and launch shell script, but people have to come to this page to get the actual game itself. If you feel like that works better for you, we can leave it that way, it is up to you :)

Ah, ok! Yes, I’m fine with the full game being available on your website, as long as you also link to this page and tell people they can pay if they want. The image looks neat, too bad I don’t have a handheld, would be curious to try it out myself :).

Just one issue: I recently upgraded to a new version of AGS, and there has been a series of problems with the update. I think I have fixed the main bugs by now, but I still have to test the new build thoroughly. So to stay on the safe side, I’d maybe wait with the port a couple of weeks.

I could probably just include the 1.2 version, unless there are significant gameplay differences?

I was told the older version crashes on Linux, but if you have tested it and it works, then go ahead - there aren’t any gameplay differences.

Hey,  as I right click on the body or somewhere near it, this error comes up.

Tried restarting, deleting & downloading again 2 times and the same error comes.

I am not that tech savvy so not sure if this has anything to do with file itself..pls do let me know I will look it up.

this is the error-

Damn, you’re right, thank you for reporting! I recently recompiled the game in a new version of the engine, this must be related to that. Until I find the problem, I’ve reactivated the previous version of the game, v1.2. Please download again, it should work this time.

Its working now. Played the whole thing. Loved it btw! :))

FYI:  Game needs updated version of AGS32 / 64 to run without crashing on Linux

https://github.com/adventuregamestudio/ags/releases/tag/v3.6.2.10

Thank you, wasn’t aware! Uploaded a new version compiled in AGS 3.6.2.10, hope it runs ok now.

Thanks.

BTW: Love the game

Fantastic work! The story was absolutely absorbing—it had me hooked from start to finish. Huge congratulations!

Fantastic sleuthing game, the Discworld and Dune vibes are absolutely there while still feeling unique. Would gladly ready a whole novel series of Ava and Mother Tiabata's adventures in this weird sci-fantasy world! The writing is clever and made me audibly chuckle a bunch, and the music and art really lend to the aesthetic. All in all a top notch game, made for a wonderfully deductive afternoon!

(also gnaath plushie when??)

Very Dune kind of world. I was blown away by the depth of the setting here. I would have enjoyed piecing together more of the mystery before the big expositionary epilogue. Regardless, I'll give this game a good rating. It's very smooth and well-thought out.

I wish you had more games taking place in this world - seems a waste to just have one short point-and-click adventure in a world you put so much thought into.  I hope you keep making games - though they are short you have some of the best games I've seen on this site.

Hi. My name is Ana Laura, I'm a translator, and I'm interested in volunteering to translate your game into Brazilian Portuguese. Please contact me if you are interested.

What a masterpiece! All the characters are interesting (I especially love the Mother Superior), the writing is great with some good funny moments, and the story is amazing! It's possible to deduce the whole thing as you play but it still comes about as surprising and interesting.

The art is also beautiful, with great set, character, and creature design (love those little big guys).

All in all, 10/10

Incredibly entertaining and interesting.  The ending(s) was so hard to accept.  I hope you find the time to make more games of this caliber.

simply amazing game, well written and quite intuitive, though if you still dont understand something, you can go back to the mother and she'll tell you what needs to be done after giving you a hint.

Thanks for creating and sharing this wonder!
It's strongly recommendable for graphic adventure fans.

I finished it in one sitting, and enjoyed every moment! I really liked all the different characters, Plink and Radina in particular.

Great world building, beautiful scenery, atmospheric music. I had a blast! Five Gnaath's out of five.

Played it last night, had a great time with it! Loved the world-building, the art and the scenario in general! I have recommended it to my friends, cheers~

Yo... so I just got an email saying you updated... but there is nothing in the Devlog.

....just wanted to check in, is this an actual update (would love to hear new schemes!), or is it potentially the same issue as 3 months ago?

(+1)

Thanks for checking! It’s just a bugfix of the sound issue mentioned in the previous post. I was waiting for the Mac version (I can’t compile that one myself) before I post a devlog.

Good to know! This makes sense.

Thank you for reporting! I don’t recall hearing about permission issues on Linux, I’m only aware that this is a big hassle on Mac. But then again I wouldn’t know, I’m not a Linux user myself - glad you sorted it! The muted audio is my bad though, it’s a known bug I haven’t gotten around to fixing :(. Happy you’re enjoying the game otherwise!

I love your art style and the way you intellectually piece everything together, even when the dialogue came up with choices i didnt choose they were questions i had for myself anyway. I don't know how or why your brain functions the way it does, but its truly a work of art and i hope you never stop creating things with it

I discovered your game at the end-of-devcom 2024 demo party in Cologne. As someone who grew up with Monkey Island, Simon the Sorcerer et al and being a HUGE Dune nerd this was - of course -  a no-brainer for me to play. First game brought home from the week on my list and I gotta say...

... absolutely a ridiculously well thought-out experience and a glorious enjoyment through-and-through. I will be telling people of this game for years to come. This has re-affirmed my perspective on games that they can be small, self-contained pieces of art. Thank you. :)

As others mentioned it is ESPECIALLY commendable that the mystery can actually be solved if you take the time and really put the right clues together. Amazing writing.
